Outlook Exprss Email Rules Setup

The point of "rules" is to make specific emails go into a specific folder in the Outlook. Specifically, you would emails sent to pietroe@attglobal.net to go into a Pietroe - AttGlobal folder and emails sent to peitersr@roeloffs.com go into a PieterSr - Roeloffs folder. This is how it is done:

Step-by-step:

Make additional folders in the Inbox:

- right click on Inbox -> New folder: give it a name "Inbox Pietroe" - ok (without the quotation marks)
- repeat this -> New folder: give it the name "Inbox PieterSr" -ok (without the quotation marks)

Now set the rule to put each incoming email into its proper folder. With these rules, the emails will not go into the main Inbox anymore, but into these sub Inboxes. They will work just like the main Inbox, no need to worry. If there is no rule, or a rule is deactivated by un-checking it, emails again go into the main Inbox. this is how you make the rule:

-> Tools
-> Message rules -> Mail
Top window (1) : scroll in the window until you find and checkmark: "Where the message is from the specified account"
Lower window (3): -> click on the blue word "specified" -> click on the right arrow to see both accounts - and choose: pietersr@roeloffs.com - ok
Middle window (2): checkmark "Move to the specified folder"
Lower window(3): click on the blue word "specified" -> choose the folder where these emails will go: Inbox PieterSr - ok
[but you need to be sure that you made that new folder already]
Bottom Line (4) : give this rule a name: pietersr@roeloffs.com
click OK
-> Overview: better NOT click "Apply now" because this will run through all email messages in your entire Outlook to apply the rule to all PREVIOUS emails. You don't need todo this, and if you do, better to make sure for a few days that the rule is doing what you want it to do.
so just click OK again.

Go through this again for the pietroe (attglobal) rule.

To UNDO a rule, or make it INACTIVE just go to ->Tools ->Message rules -> Mail. There, remove the checkmark for the rule(s) you want to deactivate - click OK. Tthe rule will be inactive. Emails that went to some folder before will now again go to the main Inbox.

Well that should be it about the rules. I think this should work, although I do not have a chance to test the Outlook Express email rules here, since I haven't got any emails in Outlook Express. Just let me know how you fare with it.
